“It’s hard to put your needs above others’ who are struggling more, but it’s very important. Because if you’re drowning, you’re just going to bring others down with you, so you also need to keep yourself afloat…because you matter.”

Dr. Shannon Finn is an associate large animal veterinarian at Milverton-Wellesley Veterinary Services. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2018 and is navigating life as a new graduate vet. During vet school she worked a few summers with a research team focusing on mental health in veterinary and agricultural fields. This experience led her to create OVC THRIVE; the first student club for mental health and wellness at OVC.

She carries this passion for mental health advocacy from vet school into her professional career.
