“Change can only come from within the profession. We have to change as a profession to meet the public where they are. We can do better for ourselves, where we are more resilient…because we matter.”

Dr. Jennifer Perret completed a degree in Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree at Queen’s University, with a major in Biology and a Bachelor or Arts minor in psychology. In 2009, she graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and began working as a small animal veterinarian.

Through her work in a variety of clinics as a locum and associate, she became aware of the impact of mental wellness on her colleagues and team members, as well as the potential for impact on her clients and patients. She is now conducting PhD research on the topic at the Ontario Veterinary College Department of Population Medicine.
